Building Brotherhood at the North Idaho Stand Down

Written/Narrated by:  Ed Bejarana | Published on: May 18, 2025

Yesterday, members of The Veterans Club gathered in force to support the North Idaho Stand Down, a powerful event designed to connect veterans with vital resources and community support. Eight of our members volunteered to work The Veterans Club table, while more than a dozen others attended the event to show support, lend a hand, or just share in the experience.

But what stood out most wasn’t just the number of veterans we met or the heartfelt conversations we had about military service and life’s challenges—it was the deep camaraderie that formed among our own. As we stood side-by-side at the table, sharing laughs, stories, and mission, we weren’t just staffing an event—we were growing as a family.

As the founder of The Veterans Club, I was deeply moved to hear members describe what the club means to them. What started as a simple idea—coffee, conversation, and community—has become something much more personal. Our members have made The Veterans Club their own, and I couldn’t be prouder.

What makes The Veterans Club special is its simplicity. No membership dues. No sign-up forms. No attendance requirements. It’s a low-stress, high-impact opportunity for veterans and first responders to connect—whether over a hot cup of coffee or while volunteering at events like this one.

At the end of the day, we came to support our fellow veterans, but we walked away with something even more valuable: a stronger bond with one another. These men and women I now call dear friends are the heartbeat of The Veterans Club. And together, we’re building a community where no one has to face life’s challenges alone.
