Introducing the Veterans Club Audiobook Narration Program: A New Way to Serve

Written by:  Ed Bejarana | Published on: September 13, 2024

At The Veterans Club, we know that the drive to serve doesn’t stop when you take off the uniform. For veterans, first responders, and those who have dedicated their lives to helping others, finding meaningful ways to give back can feel like second nature. That’s why we’ve created the Veterans Club Audiobook Narration Program—a new community project that allows you to use your voice to make a lasting impact.

This isn’t your typical “volunteer” gig where you get stuck doing paperwork or cleaning up after an event. Nope, this is a chance to step into the world of audiobook narration! We’re bringing together veterans, retired first responders, seniors, and people with developmental disabilities to create high-quality audiobooks for the visually impaired.

The best part? You get to read interesting books and help bring stories to life, all while providing an invaluable service to the visually impaired community. It’s like serving your country again—except now you get to do it from behind a microphone with a cup of coffee in hand.

How Does It Work?

It’s simple. We provide the training, equipment, and support you need to become an audiobook narrator. Whether you’re reading a thrilling mystery, a heartwarming novel, or even a nonfiction piece that helps others learn, your voice will be a gateway to knowledge and entertainment for those who otherwise wouldn’t have access.

Here’s the deal: authors donate their books to be narrated, and sponsors help fund the program. The audiobooks are then distributed for free to visually impaired listeners through podcast technology. So every time someone listens, they’re not only enjoying a good book, but they’re hearing your voice—pretty cool, right?

And yes, you heard that right—there’s potential for a little compensation too! Sponsors fund the production of each audiobook, and the revenue generated from those downloads gets shared between the author and the narrator. So, not only are you helping others, but there’s a chance to make a little extra income along the way.

Why Should You Join?

If you’re a veteran or first responder, you already know what it means to step up when your community needs you. This is another chance to do just that—only this time, you get to use your voice (and let’s face it, probably way fewer push-ups are involved). Plus, if you’ve ever been told you’ve got a “radio voice,” this is the perfect opportunity to put that to good use!

Audiobook narration isn’t just a skill—it’s a way to connect with people on a deeper level. You’ll be part of a team dedicated to serving others, making new friends, and learning new skills, all while helping to provide access to books for those who need them most. It’s community service with a twist, and we’d love for you to be a part of it.

How Can You Get Involved?

Ready to jump in? If you’re a veteran, retired first responder, or just someone who wants to make a difference, we invite you to become an audiobook narrator. You don’t need any experience—just a love of reading and a desire to help.

We’re also calling on authors who want their books narrated as part of a community-driven program and businesses that are looking for a meaningful way to give back. Sponsors will gain valuable recognition, all while supporting a project that makes a real impact on people’s lives.
