Why We’re (Finally) Using Facebook and Instagram

Reaching Those Who Need Us Most, Where They Already Are
For a long time, The Veterans Club chose not to use Facebook or Instagram.
Like many Americans, we’ve had strong concerns about Meta’s business practices—how personal data is handled, how algorithms are used, and how profit can sometimes take precedence over people. These issues didn’t sit right with our mission of integrity, brotherhood, and service.
But here’s the thing: there are more than 20 million veterans and retired first responders in the U.S., and over 80% of them use Facebook regularly. By choosing not to be on the platform, we weren’t just taking a stand—we were missing out on an opportunity to save lives.
The Hard Truth: We Can’t Afford to Stay Silent
Veteran and first responder suicide continues to claim far too many lives. One of the root causes? Isolation.
Other veteran-focused nonprofits—some we deeply admire—have seen remarkable success using Facebook to re-engage struggling veterans. We’ve watched how a single post can lead to a conversation… that leads to a meeting… that leads to a life redirected toward hope.
We’ve heard stories like:
“I hadn’t talked to another vet in years. Then I saw a post from a group in my town and decided to show up to an event. It changed everything.”
We realized: we can either stay off the platform out of principle—or step onto it with purpose.
We chose purpose.
Using Facebook With a Mission-First Mindset
We’re not joining Facebook to go viral. We’re here to connect.
We’ll be posting weekly about events, dinners, tours, new chapters, and—most importantly—the people behind the mission. We’ll share stories of hope, pictures of laughter, and moments of real human connection.
Every time someone shares a post or tags a friend, it increases the chance that someone struggling in silence will see a glimpse of what’s possible—and reach out.
Why It Matters: Accessibility, Visibility, and Hope
- Facebook is pre-installed or downloaded on over 98% of U.S. smartphones.
- Instagram is growing fastest among younger veterans and first responders.
- These platforms are already where people are looking for connection.
By meeting them there, we’re removing a barrier—and opening a door.
You don’t have to RSVP. You don’t have to comment. You just need to see that there are others like you out there, living life with purpose again.
A Tool for Outreach, Not Profit
Yes, Facebook offers monetization options. But here’s our promise:
100% of any revenue generated through Facebook or Instagram is used to grow our outreach.
Funds will be reinvested directly into spreading our message, reaching more isolated veterans and first responders, and supporting programs that build relationships and reduce suicide risk.
No salaries. No overhead fluff. Just mission-forward growth.
Reaching the Next Generation of Heroes
Many younger veterans and first responders are still working, raising families, and juggling daily life. They might not have time to attend every meeting—but they still crave purpose and connection.
By showing up in their social feed—not with gimmicks, but with genuine stories—we can plant seeds that grow into friendships, business partnerships, and maybe even leadership in a future chapter.
Follow. Share. Hope.
We’re still guided by our founding principles. We’re still committed to integrity. We haven’t changed who we are—we’re just using a new tool to reach more of those who need us.

Like a post. Tag a friend. Share an event. You never know who’s watching—or who might decide today’s the day they show up.
Because when veterans and first responders come together, lives are changed.
Still on mission. Now on Facebook.
