Last night, Patriot Pour Facilitators and Managers gathered at Pizza Factory in Coeur d’Alene for a training meeting focused on one important question: How do we make every Patriot Pour meeting better for the people sitting around the table?

Facilitator-led meetings are a hallmark of The Veterans Club. They help ensure that everyone has an opportunity to participate, conversations remain welcoming and positive, and no one gets lost in the room. Our goal is pretty simple: we want people to be happier when they leave a meeting than they were when they arrived.

That means our meetings need to be attendee-centered. The facilitator isn’t there to dominate the conversation or deliver a lecture. Their job is to create an environment where people feel seen, heard, included, and connected—the kind of consistent human connection that sits at the heart of what The Veterans Club is trying to accomplish.

After two hours, three pizzas, and six pitchers of beer, we believe we came away with some great ideas—and probably proved that facilitator training works better with pizza.

Most importantly, we had veterans and first responders working together to make The Veterans Club better. Better conversations. Better connections. Better meetings. And a stronger community.
